The Junior Star Singer 2018 tour draws to a close at Radio Dacorum
So, after a hectic year of touring the country, we are finally at the end of the Junior Star Singer Songwriter Radio Tour 2018. It truly has been another amazing year. The standard of contestants has just got better and better, and this year the judges are going to have a tough time on their hands trying to pick a winner. The standard is really high. Originally judges would just pick one winner per radio station but now we look at all contestants that we think are worthy of going through to the final.
We often get asked about what criteria is important in order to make the final. Listen out for interviews from the judges throughout the tour, they will be able to explain what they are mainly looking for. Remember the winners are picked and have to meet in a recording studio in London where many high profile artists go to record. The actual final is quite an intense and exciting experience all at the same time. Contestants that go through cannot make any preparation for the day but have to go in 'cold' and be mentored by presenters and previous winners of the show. They are set challenges and then have to sing on the day in front of producers.
Information on what JSS is all about can be found on the Junior Star Singer website and in the JSS magazine. Music entrepreneur and JSS founder Amanda Neale is now directing a documentary about the show which gives information on what it is about, reveals behind the scenes footage with interviews from previous contestants, presenters and sneek previews of the latest final. You will be able to check the documentary out very soon on the JSS website.
The Junior Star Singer Songwriter show in Hemel Hempstead was based at the Radio Dacorum radio station and hosted by Tom Watkins and Amanda Neale. Guest presenters were Billy and Louie Hughes who were winners from last year.
The pair talked about JSS Europe and JSS Theatrestar, two other projects to look out for. In addition to performing tracks including their own winning song 'River', the twins spoke about their musical journey so far since they won the 2017 competition and how they are looking forward to the launch of their new website and release of their demo very soon.
Our contestants on the show were Maisie Mae, Megan Bowlzer, and Phoebe Woodham, all of whom continued the high standard that has been typical throughout this year's competition. You can check out clips of their performances below:
